Learn a basic approach to chiaroscuro ("light-dark") studio painting in oils. Learn to use classical composition, mix shadow color, mix local
color, model form, master edge work, identify and correct common mis-perceptions of color value, and create the illusion of atmosphere in
your paintings. Special focus will be on still life painting.
Students should bring still life or portrait work to the first class to establish working objectives. They will also be asked to save all canvases to
evaluate individual progress at the end of the 8-week session.
